Why do you need to learn English?

If you want to become a successful businessman, you will have to speak English to your clients. If you want to see yourself working in a good organization, you also need to clear your interview in English. English is required in every field, including sports, films, jobs, business, and politics, for building a bright future.

Speaking English is gradually becoming a necessity for all students to build their successful careers but the big problem is that only very few students have realized its emergency by time. Students have been facing difficulties in interviews after completing their schools and higher schools. Students have very little confidence in themselves about their ability to speak English. Some good qualified and eligible students have been losing good and moderate opportunities to get themselves hired by either government or private companies, just because they could not speak English confidently in their interview round.

Why do students face difficulties in speaking English?

Now let us find out the reason why students find it difficult to speak English. Most students have completed their schooling from regional schools where they have been taught either in Bengali or Hindi. They were not asked to do any conversions in English with their friends and teachers which led them to stay deprived of English speaking practices. The most significant way to acknowledge this is that students have one or more English papers in their syllabus which they have to study hard to clear and most students do so. Therefore students have sound knowledge in English but that is only limited to their writing skills. They know grammar and they can also construct sentences in English but they just cannot speak English and that is only because they do not have regular practices of speaking English.

Why have students of English medium schools left the regional school students behind them?

English medium students can speak English fluently because they have been forced to speak English since their childhood at their school. Those kids who are from English medium schools find it very comfortable to speak English with anybody anywhere. Even the little kids of classes four and five speak better English than the senior students of regional schools. They always have the extra advantage of cracking the interview session over those students who have been continuing their schooling at regional schools. It is not because students of English medium schools are more talented compared to that of Bengali or Hindi medium schools but it is only because English comes out very easily when the students of English medium schools speak as they have been practicing the same since their childhood.

Why should Bengali and Hindi medium students start learning to speak English early?

Every student of Bengali medium or Hindi medium schools must start practicing speaking English from their childhood so that they will not stay behind the students of English medium schools. Therefore the earlier you will start the better it will be for you.

Why do senior students of regional schools hide themselves from speaking English?

It has been observed that the senior students who are reading in class ten or higher feel too shy to open their mouths when it comes to speaking English. The fear of speaking incorrect English pushes them to the corner bench which keeps their mouth shut and as a result, they never learn to speak. It is first required to remove the fear of speaking English; we do not speak our mother tongue correctly, so even if we do not speak English correctly, there is no shame if someone starts speaking the wrong English it is still ok. Unless you start speaking you may not find the mistakes and unless the mistakes are recognized and identified they cannot be rectified. Therefore it is important to start today and continue practicing because practice makes you perfect.

English Grammar

English grammar is very crucial for every student to learn it. It is impossible to construct English sentences without knowing the rules of parts of speech in English grammar. Therefore some important chapters are covered in the classes along with PDF notes as your study guide to access it at your home. We also give our students an access to our online web portal to learn and practice English grammar through an automated practice platform. Some very important chapters which are covered; Tense, Voice Changes, Narration Changes and Specific format using the WH members of asking questions are also taught in the classes.

Self Introduction

It is very important for speakers to draw the listener's attention by presenting an appealing Self-Introduction. The confidence of someone can be understood by a good self-introduction. It can be understood very easily by the Self-Introduction, that how confident the candidate is. It should be presented in an attractive way to grow the interest of the listener. The Self-Introduction is not the same for every student. Every student should prepare their own Self-Introduction on the basis of their lifestyle, activities and experiences and on the way they see themself in the process of building their career. Every candidate will be taught every bit of it with many examples depending on the individual's livelihood. Students will be taught different types of Self-Introduction, like Informal, Formal, Freshers and Experienced candidate's Introduction. A Student's introduction needs to be introduced depending on the place of introduction and the person to whom to be introduced. Therefore every student will also be taught to introduce own-self on the basis of different circumstances.

What should be included in someone's Self-Introduction?

It should be started with the name of the candidate and it has to be followed by address, age, education & qualifications, a brief introduction of family members can be included to it, and other activities can also be added like drawing, dancing, singing and many other activities, which they prefer to do for their recreation. It is not compulsory to include everything in an Introduction but depending on the requirements a candidate has to prepare his own Self-Introduction. The project work and experiences of working at offices in different situations are also mentioned. Therefore the Self-Introduction is not the same for every person.

Public Conversation

Conversation is one of the most effective ways to grow confidence in someone. It not only helps to regularise words and sentences for our daily uses but it also helps to improve English speaking ability. Students will have to learn and practice a whole lot of Conversations depending on circumstances and several assumptions. They will have to perform two and more character Conversations with other students. The more the students perform Conversations the more likely they will be able to improve themself because practices make a significant difference in everyone's life.

Official Conversation

Official Conversations are almost the same as Public Conversations. In the case of the Official Conversations there is an imaginary boundary around someone's presentation of thoughts. Everything is not to be spoken about. The speakers speak on a specific topic and they go through the point wise and logical direction in the process of sharing their thoughts and opinions on it. Everything is very important and it will be practiced here at this institution.

Expansion of Thought

Expansion of thoughts is one of the most crucial exercises to improve students' speaking skills. It is very important for a speaker to develop ideas before speaking anything. Students are taught to go deep into their understanding and collect ideas for it around different perspectives and related facts connected to it directly or indirectly. It is a tremendous way to enhance someone's thinking ability. In these practices, some easy topics are given to the students. These topics are not only known to the students but they are very easy to understand and speak. But, there is a problem that everyone faces. We cannot say more than a few words about it. Though; I said, it is very easy, still we cannot say much about that known topic. It is only because we have a lack of ideas about saying something. This is not about the problem of English speaking, rather it can be any of the well known languages. Even someone cannot speak much of it in their mother tongue if they do not have enough ideas about it. Therefore, this practice is all about developing ideas and thought processes in a student. Some examples under this topic are (Pen, Pencil, Fan & etc). You think and do this practice. How much can you say about any of these topics? You may try it in your mother tongue first. Try to say more than 15 to 20 minutes about any of these.

extempore

Extempore is generally a well prepared constructed speech that is based on proper research, very clear observation, and ability to deliver in an absorbing way, but it is to be noted that candidates are neither allowed to read nor memorized. Extemporaneous topics have to be presented without prior planning. Extempore is an activity where the topics are given on the spot, and candidates have to speak and perform on the given topic. Candidates need thinking abilities and good communication skills to ace the Extempore topics. Candidates also need to show a positive attitude along with convincing body language. The Extempore speeches are generally delivered around two to two & half minutes duration after two to two & half minutes preparation time. These speeches are intended to reveal the competitors' ability to establish a point of view on a general topic in an outstanding way and to deliver it within a stipulated time period after a very short preparation time.

General Discussion

The General Discussion is a spectacular session of practices in which the candidate's standards are evaluated, including leadership qualities, communication skills, social and behavioral expertise, courtesy, teamwork & team building ability, listening, analysing & understanding power, general observation & awareness, self-assurance, and problem-solving attitude. General Discussion is defined as talking about something, especially to resolve a problem or answer a question. An example of a General Discussion is when two or more people disagree with each other about something and they decide to sit down and talk and share their opinions with each other and want to come to a single decided conclusion. Students will be given such kinds of topics where each student has a separate opinion and they will be asked to share their thoughts about that discussed matter and decrease the gap of difference in their opinions.

Group Discussion

The purpose of a Group Discussion is to resolve the difference in candidates' opinions. Every candidate has their own opinion that is based on certain logics and some beliefs and disbeliefs. Students are highly encouraged to participate in these types of Group Discussions and they are pushed to present their statements for the discussable topic along with their reasons for establishing those statements. These discussions allow students to speak a lot and to become more expressive. Therefore; this practice is definitely going to improve the speaking ability of a student to a great extent.

Situational Discussion

Situational Discussions are typical discussions amongst a group of boys and girls that are held on the basis of some daily life experiences that are gathered randomly. In this practice a problematic situation is described before every student. They have to share the best suitable solution for it. Every student's opinion or general verdict may be disagreed and countered by other students. This practice forces every student to speak a lot and it results in improvement in their English speaking ability.

Debate

We know that everything has both beneficial and adverse effects. So there is nothing in this world that is absolutely right for acceptance by everyone in this world. For this reason, the debate comes into action. Debate is a logical argument where students create their logic to establish their statements as a fair one. Debate improves the speaking ability of students. Every discussable topic has two sides, one for the statement, and another is against the statement. Students are asked to stick to one side and battle hard for the same to prove themselves as the correct one by thinking and delivering unavoidable logics before their opponents. Debate is a type of argumental act which everyone wants to win by its human instincts. So, in this process, students speak more English sentences and there are more opportunities for them to improve.

Drama

Drama is a set of multiple Conversations. In the initial stages students are encouraged to participate in the Conversations that are played between two characters and after acquiring some confidence they are also asked to play multiple characters Conversations. But, the difference between a Conversation and a Drama is mainly in its length of occurrence. Drama is a collection of multiple scenes and in each scene there are some characters who are found doing Conversation. In these practices students are not only entertained but they are also polished rapidly towards their goal of being a fluent English speaker.

Live Commentary

Live Commentary is a practice where the students are shown some videos without its sound and they have to describe the scene one after another without stopping. Each character in every scene is doing something that the students have to describe in their own way. It is a very prominent practice to gather content from the running pictures of a video and say it to the perfection.

Story Describing & Making

Story Describing is a significant method to boost speaking power. In these practices, students are shown a short video, after that they are asked to describe it in their own words. Students are also asked multiple questions from that video which was shown to them before. This helps in developing, understanding and English speaking ability of the students.

Story Making is another practice where students are asked to make a story on their own and describe it in English. They try it day after day and it improves their thinking capacity as well as their English speaking skills. They are also encouraged to say any of their memorable incidents in front of the whole class in the form of a story. Sometimes they are asked to demonstrate a particular thing with the help of some logical explanation.

Report Making

Report Making is a practice of presenting a complete presentation and demonstration of an incident in front of the whole class. The students are asked to do reporting like news reporting on a particular incident that had taken place recently. Students are sometimes asked to do a news reporting of some imaginary incidents like flooded city, devastating landslide, horrible accident, society chaos, and some other reporting like theft case, robbery, rape and murder case for the senior students. Students enjoy these types of activities and they are entertained very much along with their fast progress.

Handling an Interview

The Interviews for a job is a most difficult challenge for the majority of the students. Every renowned company recruits the best candidate who not only speaks English fluently but also responds to the counter questions wisely. The candidate has to be well groomed and the body language must be impressive to be able to draw the attention of the interviewers. Therefore we just do not try to make students fluent in English but we focus on their confidence because we know it very well. Confidence matters a lot to crack an Interview session.
